RECIPE: AIR FRYER MALA PORK BELLY
Let the air fryer take center stage with this pork belly dressed in Mala Spice Mix and a savory glaze, by Jill Maniago (@jillcooksthings). Serve over a bed of rice, or in a lettuce wrap for a refreshing crunch.
AIR FRYER MALA PORK BELLY
Prep time: 1 hour
Cook time: 15 min
Serving size: 2-3 people
Ingredients
1 lb pork belly
1 tbsp Mala Spice Mix
1 tbsp cornstarch
For the glaze:
1 tsp Mala Spice Mix
1 tbsp honey
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cooking wine
2 cloves garlic
Garnish:
scallions
sesame seeds
Instructions
Cut pork belly into bite size pieces.
Marinate the meat with Mala Spice Mix for 1 hour or overnight.
For the glaze, mix together Mala Spice Mix, honey, soy sauce, cooking wine, and 2 cloves garlic.
Add cornstarch to the meat and air fry at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
Brush glaze on the pork belly and flip. Brush more glaze onto the other side and air fry for 5 additional minutes.
Enjoy with a bed of rice or in a lettuce wrap.
Additional dipping sauce tip: Add a cornstarch water slurry to the leftover glaze, let simmer, then serve as a dipping sauce.
