For all those in need of the perfect late night snack, our friend Tiffoodss shared with us her 3 Ingredient Mala Spiced Popcorn Chicken Recipe! It's crispy, tingly, and best paired with fried basil for a super simple, super flavorful snack.

Mala, the signature flavor of Sichuan cuisine means "spicy and numbing". Made of 11 potent herbs and spices, including Erjingtiao chili and Tribute Peppers, our dry spice blend adds oomph to any spice rub, batter, or rim of a marg on a Friday night.

  • 1 lb Chicken thigh
    2 tbsp Mala Spice Mix
    1 cup Tapioca starch
    2 tbsp Water


Slice 1 lb chicken thigh into multiple pieces into your desired size.

Sprinkle 2 tbsp of Mala Spice Mix over your chicken, add 2tbsp water, and mix.

Add 1 cup of tapioca starch, making sure to coat the chicken evenly.

Fry on medium heat.

For extra flavor, sprinkle with more Mala Spice Mix, fry some basil to add on top, and enjoy!
